James Wardle
James retired in 2021 from the United States Army as a Senior Enlisted Combat Engineer (SFC/E7) after serving over 21 years of combined service. His service encompassed multiple positions of leadership, mentorship and support through Reserve and Active Duty units. Credited with four combat tours to Iraq and Afghanistan and one short tour fighting wildfires in southern Oregon in 2019. During his service, he was able to complete his associate degree from Pierce County College.
In 2018, James started his own business DuPont Home Renovations LLC. His business began with offering handyman and light construction services primarily to serve his small community of DuPont, WA. Over the last six years, business has grown tremendously providing full general contractor services for homeowners, property management company’s and commercial properties. He is currently looking to expand his portfolio as an entrepreneur and start a mitigation company as he has a passion for helping people.
James and his wife Tessa have 4 children: Ethan, Addison, Brennan and Lilah. He throughly enjoys working on his own house and getting his family out to embrace the wonders of Washington.
Derek Smith
Colonel Derek earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University in 2001. In 2011, he attained a Masters in Business Administration from Central Michigan University.
Derek is currently a senior leader in the United States Army, serving as the Commanding Officer for a Brigade consisting of nearly 3,000 personnel, 137 aviation aircraft, and the associated buildings and ground support equipment that accompany the command. He has spent 42 months spanning 4 combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan as an AH-64 “Apache” Pilot.
He is also the Co-founder of Peregrine Wealth Inc., which is the culmination of 23 years focused on the procurement and management of residential and commercial real estate. His portfolio spans 28 units including fixes and flips, single family residential, multi-family residential, commercial residential, and a development project involving a golf course and 1250 acres of land dedicated to future residential properties and businesses.
Professionally, he is passionate about using his construction background in real estate. With this he hopes to build a water, fire and biological remediation service for the greater Pierce County area, founding a business that is customer-focused rather than associated with insurance companies to better serve our community. Personally, he is passionate about his wife, Megan, and their 3 children: Avery, Audrey, and Britton.
