What do we do when a bathtub overflows?

Here at Pacific Restore, we see lots of water damage situations; Recently we received an emergency water loss call about a second floor bathtub overflow!

We rushed right to the job and got to work…Here are the steps we took to repair the damage:

Step 1:

Our team began with an assessment of the affected areas using moisture monitoring and home testing. This allowed them to get to work, which involved:

  • Performing initial mitigation measures
  • Installing drying equipment to damaged areas
  • Establishing containment in the kitchen with protective plastic sheeting
  • Removing affecting kitchen ceiling to facilitate structural drying

Step 2:

The team then used strategic drying techniques to effectively dry the exposed framing by ducting hot and dry air from the dehumidification system into the ceiling cavity.

Then, moisture monitoring confirmed that the structural components successfully dried!

Step 3:

It was then time to tackle the upstairs through a few steps…

Our team:

  • Detached and lifted the carpet to access affected materials
  • Removed and disposed of the saturated carpet pad
  • Dried the subfloor and underlying framing using professional drying equipment and moisture monitoring

Step 4:

The second floor required no drywall removal due to effective drying and moisture readings!

The property was successfully stabilized and dried while minimizing demo and preserving as much of the existing structure as possible!
